The Indian Film Industry is where he lived. With the intention of becoming a successful singer, Kishore Kumar entered the industry but with his brother,
Ashok Kumar’s, help played hero in Andolan. Very surprised to himself, Kishore Kumar worked with many notable directors. His path wasn’t filled with roses all the way, with initially releasing a string of flops, Kishore Kumar achieved success as a comic hero with movies like New Delhi in 1957, Aasha in 1957, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi in 1958, Jhumroo in 1961, Half Ticket in 1962, and Padosan in 1968. Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, his home production, starred the three Ganguly brothers, and
Madhubala (whom Kishore married later).
With the help of Music Director S. D. Burman, the Film Fraternity spotted Kishore Kumar's talent as a singer, and advancing his singing career. Inspite of not being a trained singer Kishore da has given mind-blowing and evergreen hits like Maana janaab ne pukara nahin from Paying Guest, Hum hain raahi pyar ke from Nau Do Gyarah in 1957, Ai meri topi palat ke aa from Funtoosh, and Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si and Haal Kaisa Hai Janaab Ka from the 1958 movie Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. Towards the late 1960s, S. D. Burman's son, Rahul Dev Burman also started patronizing Kishore Kumar and sang popular songs Mere Saamne waali khidki mein and Kehna hai.
Till date there are many of the modern day singers who try to imitate Kishore Da’s style but all in vain. The industry felt its deep loss on October 13, 1987 when the great Kishore Kumar passed away but like he said "Zindagi ka safar, hai yeh kaisa safar"
